KABUL (Pajhwok): Administrative Reforms and Civil Services Department head Maulvi Abdul Hanan Arifullah on Thursday said the caretaker government was not against education and universities would be surely reopened.
He said this was addressing participants of graduation ceremony of 200 people from the Institute of Civil Services in Kabul. He added that the government was not opposed to education and knowledge.
He said: “I give you 100 percent satisfaction that the Islamic Emirate will reopen universities and schools; we are not against knowledge because our leaders are scholars and whoever is scholar, they have friendship with knowledge”.
In March this year, the Islamic Emirate closed girls’ schools above sixth grade and about a week ago banned girls from attending public and private universities.
Addressing the meeting, Deputy Minister of Education Ahmad Saeed Shahidkhel said America had confronted the whole world and humanity with destruction for its objectives and material gains.
He claimed that America controlled all the international media. Without elaborating, he said: We cannot abide by anyone’s wishes and orders for the sake of the success of our nation, nor can we be anyone’s slave."
