MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): A 5.2 kilometres long water canal built at the cost of 20 million afs has been inaugurated in the Dawlatabad district of northern Balkh province, an official said on Friday
Najibullah Yazdanpana, head of the Swedish Committee for Afghanistan (SCA), in Balkh said the canal start from the Shaikh Hassan main canal and end at the Qarashgik village.
The project was funded by the UNDP and constructed by the SCA in four months, he added.
Yazdanpana said the canal had the capacity to irrigate 800 hectrares of land and 160 people worked in the project in the past four months.
