Nangarhar girl rescued from being sold to repay loan

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Vice and Virtue rescued a nine-year-old girl from being sold by her father to repay a loan in eastern Nangarhar province by paying the loan to the lender.

The ministry warned both parties in such cases would be tried in future.

Mohammad Sadiq Akif, spokesperson for the complaints hearing commission, wrote on his Twitter page: “The girl, her father and the lender were called to Kabul from Achin district of Nangarhar and the loan was paid by the acting minister of vice and virtue.”

He warned if such an incident happened in future, both sides would be prosecuted.

The ministry also published a video on its Twitter page, saying the nine-year-old girl was being sold to the lender against 220,000 afghanis loan.
