QALA-I-NAW (Pajhwok): Some educated disabled persons in northwestern Badghis province have demanded jobs in government and non-government organizations.
They said no organization had offered them with job opportunities at time when they completed their education bearing a lot of problems and hardship.
Mohammad Arif, 30, lost his leg in a bomb blast 10 years ago said he was unable to do hard labour, adding that despite being educated he had not job to do.
He has a bachelor degree saying that despite applying several times for a job he was unable to get one in government or non-government organizations.
Arif has to look after a 12-member family, he did not have the ability to work physically and no government organization provided him a job as well.
Abdul Hanan, another disabled persons from Abkamri district, has a semi-higher education degree and suffering from similar issue.
He also completed his higher education bearing immense problems and difficulties, said that he applied for job at different government organization but no one provided him with a job.
“I lost my one hand and cannot work physically to bring food to my nine-member family. I want the government to at least provide me job even the lower graders so I could support my family,” he said.
Civil Society Activist Aqa Arbab Shaikh Al Islami said disabled persons were part of the society and they should be recruited in the government or none-government organizations.
Badghis Disabled and Martyres Department Director Mawlavi Islmael Rahmani said the problem of disabled persons jobs had been conveyed to the central government and hoped that efforts would be taken in this regard.
He said 30 percent Badghis disabled persons are educated and efforts were underway to provide with work opportunities.
The local Martyres and Disabled Department have registered 4,147 disabled persons in Badghis province so far. Thirty percent of them are educated people.
