KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): Trade activities on Spinboldak-Chaman road have been increased which help improve trade activities, an official said on Sunday.
Earlier, businessmen complained against irrelevant and unnecessary issues on the vital Spinboldak-Chaman road.
Spinboldak District Chief Haji Mullah Agha Jan said up to 300 commercial vehicles move on the Boldak-Chaman road daily exporting or importing goods.
He added up to 20,000 people — passengers and businessmen — are traveling on the vital road daily.
Referring to the problems and issues on the road, he said sometimes problems surface but the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan always tried to resolve them.
Mohammad Sadiq, head of the Spinboldak Chamber of Commerce and Investment, said at the movement trade vehicles are allowed eight hours to move on the road and the remaining 14 hours it is closed by the Pakistani authorities.
He said businessmen always requested the reopening of the road 24/7 but Pakistani officials rejected their request.
Abdul Waris, one of the businessmen, said still Pakistan created issues and asked for money from passengers and individuals who transfer goods.
“Now the situation is good, Pakistani security personnel bothered people and caused problems for passengers and traders.”
Business people claimed Pakistan failed to honor its commitment to improve trade and economic activities with Afghanistan but Pakistan often assured cordial economic and business ties during meetings with Afghan officials.
