JALALABAD (Pajhwok): A private company is investing 12 million afghanis to establish an orange orchard in Hadda Farm area related to the Canal Department of eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Sunday.
Dozens of people will find work opportunity in the orange orchard being grown on 58.5 acres of land.
Nangarhar Canal Department spokesman Syed Humayun Gharibmal told Pajhwok the private company will spend 12 million afghanis on the establishment of the orange orchard and dozens of people will be provided with work opportunity.
An official of Kamal Sahil Agricultural Company, Najibullah Sahil, said the garden will be irrigated by a drip irrigation system, which will save water and reduce costs of the garden in future.
The Canal Department says orange orchards were established this year on nearly 1,000 acres of land in cooperation with the private sector.
