Sugar price down, flour up in Kabul market

KABUL (Pajhwok): The price of sugar decreased and the rate of Kazakhstani flour fell in Kabul during the outgoing week, market sources said on Saturday.

Zmarai Safi, head of the Food Traders Association, told Pajhwok Afghan News the value of a 49 kilograms bag of Indian sugar decreased from 2,850afs to 2,750afs.

But the price of a 49-kilogram sack of Kazakh flour surged from 2,100 afghanis to 2,200 afs, the association chief added.

A 24.5-kilogram bag of Pakistani rice accounted for 3,000afs, 16-litre bottle of Malaysian cooking oil for 1,800afs, one kilogram of African black tea for 400afs and the same amount of Indonesian green tea for 350afs.

But Hamid Sufizada, a retailor at Dahna-i-Bagh Market, put the retail price of a 49-kilogram bag of Kazakh flour at 2,250 afs, a 24 kilograms bag of Pakistani rice at 3,050afs, a 49 kilogram of Indian sugar at 2,800 afs, 16-litres of Malaysian cooking oil at 1,850afs, one kilogram of African black tea at 400afs and the same quantity of green tea at 450afs.

Fuel prices unchanged

According to a worker of the Ahmadyar Group of Pump Stations, the price of one litre of petrol stood at 70afs and diesel to 89afs.

Mohammad Sharif, a liquefied gas seller in Kalola Pushta locality, said the price of one kilogram of the commodity stood at 70afs.

Gold price down

Mohammad Fawad, a jeweler at the Timor Shahi Market, said the price of one gram of Arabian gold decreased from 4,500afs to 4,470afs. But the Russian variety sold at 2,550 afs.

Currency rates

Haji Hussain, owner of the Sadaqat Money Exchange Service, said one US dollar traded at 89.30afs and 1,000 Pakistani rupees at 330afs.

Last week, one US dollar accounted for 88afs and 1,000 Pakistani rupees for 350afs.
