NEILI (Pajhwok): Youth in central Daikundi province say their interest in sports such as football and futsal has grown more than ever before after the establishment of peace and stability in the country.
Aman Afshin, an official of Daikundi sports halls, confirmed the growing interest of young people in sports, especially football.
Qudratullah, a futsal player from Daikundi, said youth’s enthusiasm had soared. When they wanted to play a game or take part in a competition, they coordinated and booked the hall a day or two before, he added.
He commented: "Football sends us a message of unity, solidarity and brotherhood. When young people play together under one roof, they feel united in an atmosphere of friendship, solidarity and mutual acceptance.”
He believed security in the country and people’s lives in an atmosphere of peace were reasons for the surging interest among young people in sports.
Footballer Din Mohammad Behzad the game had many fans in the province and encouraged the spirit of brotherhood and mutual accommodation in youth.
He said they were happy participating in the contest with greater peace than every other event. More squads participated in it than in previous years, he noted.
