12pc Afghan families lack access to clean water: OCHA

KABUL (Pajhwok): The United Nations Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) says three successive droughts have hit Afghanistan hard, with 12 percent families facing lack of access to potable water.

UNOCHA tweeted: “Three successive droughts have hit Afghanistan. hard. 2022 drought saw a 7% spike in families expressing increased need for drinking water; a 12% in families facing barriers to accessing safe water.”

It said $479 million was needed to improve access to safe drinking water for $14 million people and prevent them from water-borne diseases.
