KABUL (Pajhwok): Fazal Mohammad Haqqani has been appointed as the ‘Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’ (IEA) Chargé d’Affaires of Afghanistan’s embassy in Tehran, the capital of Iran, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said on Monday.
Ahmad Zia Takal, deputy spokesperson for the MoFA, said that Fazal Mohammad Haqqani and his team had have official handed over the affairs of the Afghanistan’s embassy in Tehran on Monday.
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Abdul Qahar Balkh on his twitter handle wrote: “IEA-MoFA informs all Afghans residing in I.R Iran that the Afghan Embassy activities will continue in Tehran following the dispatching of newly appointed Chargé d’Affaires and diplomats with a firm commitment and spirit to serving the citizens of the two countries.”
He added: “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs points out that shuffling diplomatic staff members of a mission is a usual administrative affair and the legitimate right of every country.”
Balkhi said: “We believe that with the new appointments, we would witness transparency in the affairs of the embassy as well as expanded relations in various fields between the two Muslim and brotherly countries.”
