Work on development projects kicks off in Herat

HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Construction of some development projects worth more than 26 million afghanis was launched in western Herat province on Saturday.

In a statement, the Governor’s Media Office said governor Noor Ahmad Islamjar along with Public Works Director, Head of Rural Rehabilitation and Development, ANDMA’s Director and head of Economy inaugurated several development projects that would cost more the 26 million afghanis.

During this visit, the governor inaugurated construction of three water supply projects valued 15,830,000afs in Jamalzai, Mohammadi Zaie, Kariz Haidar Khan and Nawabad areas of Golran district, the statement added.

It said asphalting Bazar-e-Qarabagh road in Gulran district was inaugurated, whixh is estimated to cost 11,090,000afs.

Meanwhile, residents expressed their gratitude for the government’s attention to remote areas and explained implementation of these projects will partially resolve their problems with roads and access to drinking water.

The governor assured residents of Shindand, Gulran and Kashk-e-Kohna districts that the asphalting of communication roads in these districts would begin as soon as possible.
