QALAT (Pajhwok): Religious scholars should work for the sustainability and strengthening of the current regime and should not allow the system to collapse, acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi said on Monday.
Muttaqi, who travelled to southern Zabul province, addressed a gathering titled “The sustainability and empowerment of the Islamic Emirate”, wherein dozens of religious scholars and officials participated.
He said religious scholars should pay attention to their responsibilities which were heavier than responsibilities of other people.
He said: “Religious scholars should work to make the regime a success and should not let it become a failure.”
He claimed foreigners made many attempts to bring down the regime, but failed.
He said: “In a bid to fail the system, foreigners evacuated people from the country, imposed economic sanctions and tried to ignite the fire of disunity among the people to make our country a failed state, but due to our good measures, now the regime is strengthening with the passage of time, about 800,000 officials and security forces are receiving their salaries, 155,000 disabled, 350,000 orphans and 70,000 widows are also receiving their monthly stipends, many reconstruction projects have been launched including Qush Tipa canal project”.
In his brief speech, Muttaqi said Zabul province was the land of knowledge and asked local officials to work and win the hearts of the people.
Zabul governor Maulavi Qudratullah Abu Hamza also addressed the gathering and said ulema must keep guiding the officials in order the system could be further strengthened.
“Religious scholars should convey the problems of people to the officials for solution.”
The participants of the gathering voiced their support for the government and asked the government to make efforts at reconciling and bringing back those who left the country.
Maulavi Khairul Bari Farooqi, a religious scholar, said security has been ensured, so development projects should be launched across the country.
“The Islamic Emirate must invite all those who left the country and must not allow others to take advantage of their children”.
Maulavi Azizullah, another scholar, urged the government to launch similar consultative gatherings and listen to the ideas of people to further strengthen the system.
He said the problems of Zabul people should be heard and resolved.
