KABUL (Pajhwok): Deputy prime minister for economic affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar on Wednesday said the United States had repeatedly violated the Doha agreement.
Addressing a gathering marking the third anniversary of the historic agreement in Kabul, Baradar said the US was not ready to interact with the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and was also not allowing other countries to do so.
The Doha Agreement was signed on February 29, 2020 between former US special representative for reconciliation in Afghanistan Zalmay Khalilzad and Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar in Doha.
The agreement paved the way for complete withdrawal of foreign forces from Afghanistan and intra-Afghan talks.
The intra-Afghan talks that started in Doha failed to reach a conclusion and the previous government fell on August 15, 2021 and was replaced by the current caretaker government.
Addressing the event, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar said that three years ago, the Islamic Emirate opened a new chapter in the history of Afghanistan by signing the Doha agreement and the Afghan government remained committed to all clauses of the agreement.
He said the way the Afghans won on the battlefield, they also proved their ability and independence in the political arena.
Baradar said that the Islamic Emirate had formed a coalition government, ensured people’s security and taken concrete steps to strengthen the economy. He accused the United States of repeatedly violating the Doha agreement
He said the US was not interacting with the Afghan government and stopped other countries from interacting with the Afghans.
Baradar said that interaction with the world was the need of the hour and the Islamic Emirate desired good interaction with all countries.
