FARAH CITY (Pajhwok): Two families have reconciled and ended their four-year-old enmity that had claimed four lives in the Khaki Safed district of western Farah province.

The enmity between the families of Mullah Akhtar Mohammad and Agha Mohammad began four years ago in Nang Abad village after a verbal dispute. During the past four years, four persons on both sides were killed.

Maulavi Abdul Majid Samim, the provincial Vice and Virtue Department head, said: “Under special guidance of the Supreme Leader of the  Islamic Emirate, governor Mullah Noor Mohammad Rohani and some other officials, religious scholars, tribal elders and influential figures mediated  between the two families and were able to reconcile them.”

The former foes, Mullah Akhtar Mohammad and Agha Mohammad expressed their regret about the enmity and talked about the importance of peace.

Mullah Akhtar Mohammad thanked the government officials and tribal elders for their mediation that encouraged them to reconcile.

Agha Mohammad was also happy, saying their enmity turned into friendship.

The Department of Vice and Virtue department has so far succeeded in resolving 62 such feuds during the past one year.
