KABUL (Pajhwok): There are 22 paper towel manufacturing factories in Afghanistan, making the country self-sufficient in production of the rolls, the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade (MIMT) said on Sunday.
MIMT tweeted: “Afghanistan has reached self-sufficiency in 50 items of domestic products, especially in various types of paper towels."
MIMT called self-sufficiency in production of paper towels a great achievement for Afghanistan, saying the industry met local demand and employed a large number of people.
According to MIMT, there are 22 factories producing paper towels in Herat, Kandahar and Kabul provinces.
Meanwhile, Abu Mohammad Shirani, a follower of the post, wrote: "We can become self-sufficient in several items, raise customs duty on imports of such items in order to encourage the use of domestic products."
Industrialists have always complained about the import of items that are produced in the country and asked the government to prevent their imports.
