Senior Pakistani players rested for Afghan T20 series

PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): The Pakistan Cricket Board has named a new-look squad, resting senior players for the T20I series against Afghanistan.

Skipper Babar Azam, ace quickie Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Rizwan, Fakhar Zaman and Haris Rauf have been left out of the three-match series, which will be played from Match 24 to 27 in Sharjah.

All-rounder Shadab Khan will lead the 15-member team, which includes four uncapped players -- Ihsanullah, Saim Ayub, Tayyab Tahir and Zaman Khan.

Abdullah Shafique, Azam Khan, Faheem Ashraf and Imad Wasim have been recalled while Asif Ali, Haider Ali, Mohammad Hasnain and Khushdil Shah have been dropped.

Iftikhar Ahmed, Mohammad Haris, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Wasim Junior, Naseem Shah and Shan Masood have been retained.
