BAMYAN CITY (Pajhwok): On a visit to central Bamyan province, the deputy minister of agriculture has said 334 million afghanis will be earmarked for the development of the province’s agriculture sector next solar year.

Maulvi Sadr-i-Azam, deputy Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock minister for technical and professional affairs, who visited Bamyan yesterday evening, said the purpose of his trip was to support farmers and announce the package for agriculture development in Bamyan province.

He told media representatives: “The ministry will allocate 334 million afghanis for the development and improvement of agriculture products in Bamyan province.”

He also emphasized that Afghanistan was an agricultural country, so the leadership of the ministry was striving to support farmers in order to achieve self-sufficiency in agricultural production.

Maulvi Abdullah Sarhadi, the governor of Bamyan, also stressed the need for improving agriculture and supporting farmers.

He added if livestock and agriculture sectors in Bamyan were strengthened, it would result in employment and economic growth.
