TALOQAN (Pajhwok): At least one person has been killed and five more have been wounded in Tuesday night’s earthquake in northern Takhar province, local sources said on Wednesday.
Dr. Hayatullah Imami, the director of the main provincial hospital told Pajhwok Afghan News: “A dead body and five wounded people were evacuated to hospital.”
Imami said three university students were among the wounded. The students were injured while jumping off the hostel building.
Mullah Ahmad Seyar Sajid, the Disaster Management Authority head, also confirmed casualties and losses, but did not offer specific figures.
This strong earthquake shook the capital Kabul and a number of provinces, including Takhar. The epicenter of the quake was southeast of Badakhshan.
