TALOQAN (Pajhwok): The provincial Hospital in northern Takhar province has been faced with the shortage of health personnel while officials pledged efforts underway to address the human resource problem in the hospital.
Provincial Hospital Director Dr. Hayatullah Emami said in the past four health wards — maternity, children, general internal and general surgery — were functional in the hospital while currently 10 more wards had been added.
The new added wards included ear, eye, psychology, ultrasound, hemodialysis, research and telemedicine.
Meanwhile, some physicians and patients complained against the shortage of health personnel.
Dr. Mohammad Zahir, the internal diseases ward physician, said current personnel at his ward could entertained 35 patients but he received daily 105 patients and due to the shortage of personnel all patients could not be given proper attention.
He asked health officials to address this issue.
Mohammad Nawroz, another physicians also hailed the decent behavior of doctors and stressed that government should pay more attention to address the health problems of people compared to other areas.
Hospital Director Dr. Hayatullah Emami said efforts were underway to address the problem of health personnel shortage.
He said the hospital was promoted from 150 beds to 200 beds therefore it was faced with the shortage of health personnel, adding that the prime minister office recently approved more personnel for the hospital and this problem would be resolved soon.
