KABUL (Pajhwok): Saudi Arabia has agreed to become part of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) as a dialogue partner, says a media report.
In a sign of growing political relations with China, the Saudi cabinet gave the go-ahead to the decision at a meeting on Tuesday.
King Salman bin Abdulaziz chaired the meeting, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported, saying the kingdom would get the status of a dialogue partner in the Chinese-led bloc.
A Eurasian political, economic, security and defence organisation, SCO includes India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Pakistan and Uzbekistan.
King Salman, who denounced the burning of the holy Quran in Denmark, also authorised the launch of technical and vocational training between the Saudi Arabia and China.
