PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): About 2000 poor families were given away cash assistance in Pul-i-Alam, the provincial capital, and Mohammad Agha and Kharwar districts of central Logar province.
Sibghatullah Naibkhel, the Rural Rehabilitation and Development department spokesman, told Pajhwok the needy families were identified as eligible as a result of a survey.
He added that the cash assistance was distributed by the World Food Program (WFP) yesterday, with each family receiving 7400 afghanis.
He said the assistance would enable the families to meet their basic needs for some time.
