Kabul seeks world’s help to deal with climate change

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Islamic Emirate’s Political Commission has decided to use technical experiences of the world in reducing the effects of climate change and protecting the environment, calling on the international community to help in this regard.

The Political Commission met under the leadership of deputy prime minister for political affairs Maulvi Abdul Kabir and discussed issues concerning environmental protection, threats to the environment and climate change.

The Government Media Center in a statement said the leadership and experts of the Environmental Protection Agency were also present in the meeting that discussed main factors of climate change and the increase in temperature.

The meeting observed that the climate change had a negative impact on the world, especially countries depending on the use of natural resources and decided to use international technical experiences to reduce the effects of climate change and protect the environment.

The participants said Afghanistan was a member of the global convention to combat climate change and had also signed the Tokyo and Paris agreements, therefore the country should work together with the international community in this regard.

The meeting asked the international community to implement its commitments with Afghanistan about environmental protection and climate change.
