MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): Commercial goods worth five billion afghanis have been exported via Hairatan port in 1401 solar year which showed 20 percent surge compared to the 1400.
Balkh Custom Director Maulvi Safar Mohammad Sahar told Pajhwok Afghan News that Afghanistan exported commercial goods worth four billion afghanis in 1400 solar year via Hairatan.
But last year, the landlocked country’s export worth five billion afghanis, indicating a 20 percent surge, he added.
He said the exported goods, including beverages, carpet, dried fruit, animal skin, vegetables, and pressure cookers.
Abdul Naseer Reshtia, economic affairs analyst, said domestic products’ quality need to be improved and meet all the standards because it played key role in the surge of export.
Local businessman Haji Qalandar said the government should provide facilities to businesspeople so that they could export their goods easily without any irregularity.
The required facilities were documents process, good relations with foreign countries, holding exhibitions for domestic goods in foreign countries to increase the volume of exports.
Ahmad Shakib Akbari, executive head of the chamber of commerce, stressed the need for the safety of commercial goods in order to increase the export volume because Afghani products spoil quickly.
He added both the government and business people should stive to standarise the product exported.
Qari Amir Mohammad Mutaqi, director of chamber of commerce and industry, assured the government was paying special attention to the growth of domestic production and was striving to solve all the problems of the businesspeople in areas of land and electricity.
