Carpet cleaning business blooms in Kabul as Eid approaches

KABUL (Pajhwok): Carpet cleaning factories owners in capital Kabul have said their business had  increased four times as Eid-ul-Fitr approaches and most people interested in cleaning carpets and other households.

Recently carpet cleaning shops had been built in different parts of capital Kabul and more similar shops were being built. They do marketing on social media and on the eve of Eid and New Year their business thrives.

Abdul Hameed Jabbarkhel, finance director of Pakeza Carpet Cleaning in Macoryan, said 35 people were busy working in this factory which was created five years ago.

He said during recent years their work had improved but ahead of Eid and New Year there is always more demand because most of people clean their homes and sent their carpets and other items for cleaning.

He said currently they received 30 carpets for cleaning while in normal days they received up to seven carpets for cleaning.

“Our clients call us and give their order and after cleaning we take their carpet back to them,” said Jabarkhel.

Mael, a team leader of cleaners, said: “First we remove the dust from the carpet then we wash it with cleaning material and after drying and ironing we sent it to the owner.”

Mohammad Nasir, one of the carpets cleaner in the Sarosh Carpet Cleaning factory in old Taimani area, also said there was surge in their work ahead of Edi.

He said: “With the arrival of Eid, people start cleaning their houses. During these days, they bring up to 50 sheets of carpet to be washed, while on normal days, they bring me less than 10 sheets per day.”

He added the carpets are brought for washing, they will be dried within two days and returned to the customer

Mohammad Ali Haidari, the owner of Sadaf Carpet Cleaning Factory in Tarafik Square, also talked about the improvement in his business.

He said currently they had 35 sheets of carpets for daily for cleaning while in normal days they get up to eight carpets daily for cleaning.

He said most of orders were received online: “I myself mostly go and visits my clients, because most of my clients live in high floors and it is difficult to transfer carpets from up to down or down to up, so they call me and we will provide carpet removal services for free.”

People are happy at the creation of carpet cleaning factories.

Haseebullah Amir who brought his dirty carpet for cleaning was happy at the creation of such factories and said it was a facility for families.

He added carpets are better washed and cleaned in the factory adding that over the past few years he brought carpets for cleaning at the factory.

Wajeha, the resident of upper Qala-i-Zaman Khan, was also happy and said: “It’s been a few years since my husband used to take the carpet to the carpet cleaner.”
