KABUL (Pajhwok): The International community’s denial not to officially recognize Afghanistan’s incumbent government was and impediment to the country’s commerce, trade, economic development and investment opportunities, according to a statement on Friday.
Mohammad Younis Momand, assistant head of The Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment (ACCI), said this during a meeting with Roza Otunbayeva, head of the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA).
Mommand was quoted in the statement as saying: “The establishment of security nationwide
, eradication of poppy cultivation and zero corruption in government offices paved the way for investment in Afghanistan.”
He urged UNAMA support in the development of basic infrastructure in Afghanistan, creating a standard system for small business and introducing mechanism for agriculture sector in Afghanistan.
He asked the UNAMA leadership to arrange meeting between businessperson working in Afghanistan and the representatives of UN and international community.
The UN officials assured their full cooperation in the area of economic development of Afghanistan, the statement said.
