KABUL (Pajhwok): The European Union’s special envoy for Afghanistan on Wednesday said restrictions on Afghan women was affecting aid delivery in the country.
The ban challenging fundamental principles was having immediate consequences, as critical assistance could not reach women and children in need, said Tomas Niklasson.
In a statement from the EU Delegation in Afghanistan, the envoy said: “Afghan girls and women are still prevented from attending secondary school or university…”
He hailed a recent UN-convened meeting in Doha as a welcome initiative by the world body to highlight once again the current situation in Afghanistan.
