KABUL (Pajhwok): Deputy prime minister for economic affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar on Thursday said enough electricity would be produced domestically soon, vowing full support to investors.

Inaugurating a five-day‘Kabul International Exhibition’ here, Mullah Baradar said the Islamic Emirate stood by investors and considered their support its responsibility.

The exhibition is aimed at marketing domestic products and supporting national investors, building relations between businessmen and introducing domestic products to the people.

Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar said industry and local production were the backbone of the country’s economic development.

He said a country could develop on the back of a strong industry and not only became self-sufficient in the sector, but also exported its products to the rest of the world.

He said the protracted wars and lack of commitment and unwillingness of the rulers kept Afghanistan economically backward

“Alhamdulillah, after the return of the Islamic Emirate, basic steps were taken for the economic growth of the country.”

He said the industry required electricity and soon enough electricity would be produced inside the country.

“I want to give good news to all the citizens, especially the industrialists that soon we will own enough electricity produced inside the country.”

He also said if investors guaranteed quantity and quality of their products, the Islamic Emirate would prevent importation of those goods.

He also called on Afghan investors living abroad to return to their country, invest in their homeland and play their part in the development of the country’s economy and industry.

He said the Islamic Emirate stood by all industrialists and considered it its responsibility to provide them every kind of support.

As many as 550 factories have put on display their products in 55 different sections in the exhibition.
