Top Qatari, US officials talk situation in Afghanistan

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Qatari prime minister and the US secretary of state have discussed recent developments in Afghanistan.

The foreign ministry in Doha tweeted: “Prime Minister Al-Thani a received phone call from US Secretary of State (Antony Blinken).”

During the call, Sheikh Mohammad Bin Abdul Rahman bin Jassim Al-Thani and Blinken discussed bilateral cooperation, relations between the two counties and the latest developments in Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, the US State Department appreciated in a statement Qatar’s continued assistance for Afghanistan.

On Friday, Al-Thani and Qatari spymaster Abdullah Al Khalifa held a meeting with IEA Prime Minister Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund in Kandahar City.

‘The IEA spokesperson tweeted that pledges of cooperation in education, health and economic sectors were made during the meeting.

He wrote the acting premier hailed Qatar’s cooperation with Afghanistan and stressed the need greater support from the Gulf state.
