World Boxing C’ship: Tamim Akhtari named best referee

KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghan national Tamim Ahmad Akhtari has been named as ‘the best referee’ in recently concluded International Boxing Association (IBA)’s World Boxing Championships in Uzbekistan.

The Afghanistan National Boxing Federation said Akhtri was named as the best referee in the World Boxing Championships hosted by Uzbekistan from May 1 to May 14 in Tashkent, the nation’s capital.

The Afghanistan National Boxing Federation wrote on its Facebook page last night that the three-star athlete of this federation, Tamim Ahmad Akhtar, won the position of the best referee for his honest decisions in the marquee event.

Two Afghan boxers who live outside the country participated in the competitions on behalf of Afghanistan.

Tamim Akhtri, who lives abroad, acted as referee on behalf of the Afghanistan Wrestling Federation.

Some 539 athletes from 107 countries in 13 weight categories featured in the World Boxing Championships.
