KUNUZ CITY (Pajhwok): Some residents of Gulbad district in northern Kunduz province have asked the acting government to launch uplift schemes in the district and provide basic living facilities to its people.
They said no proper attention was paid for the development of their district in the past years due to conflict and they were deprived of all basic facilities.
Khalid Mohammad Khapalwak a local resident said they faced grave challenges of drinking water, roads construction and non-availability of electricity.
“Gulbad is a newly created district, basic living facilities were not available here thus we direly need development and uplift schemes to be implemented here,” he said.
He believed now that security situation had improved so the government should implement uplift schemes in their district.
Hassan Al Meaab, another resident of Gulbad while referring to the problems of local residents, said: “We need electricity, in the past there was fighting and government did not pay attention to our problems now situation had improved and we want our problems to be addressed.”
Some other residents also expressed similar views and demanded their basic issues to be addressed.
Atiqullah Jalili, a senior official of the Rural Rehabilitation Development Department, said: “In the past some drinking water, roads and culverts construction projects had been completed in Gulbad district and this year we also have some schemes to be implemented.”
Gulbad district is one of the remote districts of Kunduz and it was situated on the border with Tajikistan.
