Over 2,000 eye patients get free treatment in Maidan Wardak

MAIDANSHAR (Pajhwok): Over 2,000 eye patients in different parts of central Maidan Wardak province have been provided free of cost treatment by a team of eye specialists during the ongoing week, an official said on Wednesday.

Public Health Director Dr. Zark Zeerak told Pajhwok Afghan News: “Over 2,000 eye patients have been provided free of cost treatment in different parts of Maidan Wardak. This also included the treatment of 1,500 patients through operation.”

He said referring to the deteriorated economic condition of the people they strived to organized teams of specialist physicians for the treatment of other health issue as well.

Shokrullah, the resident of Narkh district, said: “My eyesight was not good and I had no money for the treatment as well. It is good that through mobile teams I received treatment.”

Mohammad Naeem, another resident of Maidan Wardak, said most residents in the province suffered from economic problems and they did not have the ability to pay for their treatment.

The eye specialist team will now provide treatment to patients in Syedabad, Chak and Jaghato districts, said Zark.
