JALALABAD (Pajhwok): A women’s business and investment chamber has been established for the first time in eastern Nangarhar province to work to resolve problems of women traders and investors in the eastern zone.
The chamber announced its formation during a meeting in Jalalabad city, the provincial capital, yesterday (Sunday).
Media people were not invited to the meeting, but the Information and Culture Department shared information about the meeting with journalists.
The Information and Culture department in a statement sent to Pajhwok said that the Nangarhar Women’s Business and Investment Chamber was inaugurated during a meeting hosted by the Nangarhar Department of Industry and Trade in Jalalabad.
The meeting also appointed directors for Nangarhar, Kunar, Laghman and Nuristan.
Sayed Abdul Basir Pacha, director of industry and commerce of Nangarhar, said from Islamic point of view, women could do business in special Sharia conditions.
He assured businesswomen of all kinds of cooperation and urged them to carry out their activities in the light of Islamic principles and Sharia hijab.
The meeting called activities of businesswomen as important in the country’s development and businesswomen were assured all kinds of assistance.
In Nangarhar, hundreds of women are currently engaged in carpet weaving, making women’s clothes, and other handicrafts and it is hoped special markets will be established for them in order many other women could be employed.
