Drought, receding groundwater serious challenge: Minister

KABUL (Pajhwok): The receding groundwater level has created a host of problems for people in the country, says the State Ministry for Natural Disaster Management.

Acting Prime Minister Maulvi Abdul Kabir met with state minister for natural disaster management Mullah Mohammad Abbas Akhund.

Mullah Abbas Akhund briefed the prime minister about latest actions, plans and preparations for calamities within available possibilities.

He called the ongoing drought and lowering of the groundwater a serious challenge, which had created many problems for the people.

Maulvi Kabir said the capacities should be increased to provide aid to natural disasters-hit people in the country and to identify vulnerable areas and send volunteers there.
