5 persons arrested for producing drugs in Herat

HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Five persons have been arrested on the charges of producing drugs during operations in western Herat province, an official said on Tuesday.

Counternarcotics head Maulvi Hayatullah Rohani said security forces arrested five people over producing narcotics this morning during a series of intelligence-based operations on the suburbs of Herat city.

He did not elaborate.

However, Herat Police in a statement said 1,750 kilograms of caustic soda, 4,000 kilograms of lime, and 80 liters of acid used in processing drugs  were recovered from the detainees.

The statement said the detainees were currently held at the police headquarters and they would be hand over to judicial bodies after an investigation.

A day earlier, three people were arrested for selling drugs during operations in Herat city.
