KABUL (Pajhwok): Participants of the second regional high level meeting in Kyrgyzstan have asked the Afghan rulers to form an inclusive government and protect women’s rights.

The yesterday’s huddle in resort town Cholpon-Ata of Kyrgyzstan was attended by Kazakhstan president Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov, Tajikistan president Emomali Rahmon, Uzbekistan president Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Turkmenistan president Serdar Berdimuhamedov (represented by Turkmenistan’s Deputy Chair of the Cabinet of Ministers Nurmuhammet Amannepesov) and President of the European Council Charles Michel.

In a joint communiqué, the participants articulated common concern over the deteriorating situation in Afghanistan and re-affirmed their commitment to see Afghanistan develop into a secure, peaceful, stable, prosperous country.

In this regard, they recognized the efforts of the international community to assist the people of Afghanistan in a principled manner and in accordance with international law and universally recognized norms and principles, despite difficult circumstances.

The participants called on the international community to step up humanitarian assistance to the people of Afghanistan and noted the key role of the UN in providing humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan in a principled manner.

They underlined the importance of the establishment of an inclusive and representative government and the importance of promotion of and respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms of all Afghans citizens, in particular women, girls and ethnic groups.

In this respect, they noted the importance of the EU – Central Asia dialogue on Afghanistan, including the outcomes of the fourth meeting of the EU and Central Asia Special Representatives and Special Envoys for Afghanistan held on May 25-26 in Ashgabat.

Pajhwok Afghan News sent a request to Islamic Emirate (IE) spokesman for comment, but did not get a reply.

However, Islamic Emirate officials have said the economic situation in Afghanistan is improving, human rights of women are protected, the education of girls above the sixth grade has been temporarily suspended and this problem will be solved in the light of Sharia. They have repeatedly said that the current government is inclusive.

They have asked regional and international meetings to focus on interaction and strengthening relations with Afghanistan and not to interfere in Afghanistan’s internal matters.
