AIBAK (Pajhwok): With the financial support of UNICEF, 150 literacy classes for boys and girls would be established in the far-flung areas of four districts in northern Samangan province, an official said on Sunday.

Rafiulllah Noori, head of the Social Assistance for Development of Afghanistan (SADA) Office and implementer of the project, said these classes were being established in Dara-i-Suf Payan, Feroznakhchir, Hazrat Sultan and Khelm districts and would have the capacity entertaining 4,500 students at one time.

He said the scheme would cover 180 villages and out of 4,500 students 2,460 were girls. The classes are created in localities where regular schools were not available, he added.

Noori said the education ministry curriculum was being implemented in this project, students and teachers are also provided with stationary packages.

The purpose behind this scheme was to educate children in the areas where schools and other education facilities were not available.

Fida Mohammad Halimi, one of the teachers, said the implementation of these schemes in far-flung areas was vital and it provides learning opportunity for the people of the area.

Najibullah, the resident of Hazrat Sultan area welcomed the creation of community class and asked education officials to use all resources for the education of people in remote areas.
