KABUL (Pajhwok): Over 17,000 people have been imprisoned nationwide in connection to different crimes, an official said on Sunday.
Lt.Gen Qari Habibullah Badar, military assistant head of the prisoners’ affairs, said after the takeover of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) over 17,600 individuals in connection to different crimes had been imprisoned.
He said political prisoners are not in their custody and they are kept by the intelligence affairs department.
