GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): Some girls in southern Ghazni province have expressed their disappointment over the continued closure of girls’ schools above class sixth and said nearly after two years schools remained closed on them.

They called on the ‘Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’ (IEA) to allow girls attend their schools like boys.

Last year, upon the resumption on education the IEA government banned girls’ education above class sixth and said the ban was temporary and would be lifted after a fresh strategy was made.

But some girls in Ghazni province said they were severely disappointed as ever after two years schools have not been resumed for girls.

Bibi Horia, one of these girls, told Pajhwok Afghan News in the past they had some hopes that schools would be reopened but since ban on international organization, community classes and tuitions made them disappointed.

Her eyes welled up and said: “Ban on girls’ education, introducing new and more severe restrictions was extremely disappointing for us.”

Safyah, another girl student, said she found psychological and mental issues since she had been at home and unable to go to her school, all girls are disappointed and in stress.

“Other girls like me are suffering from psychological issues and they are extremely disappointed,” she said.

Safyah added since the takeover of the IEA women had been deprived of their basic rights and they demanded an end an end to the violation of their rights.

They asked the IEA to reconsider their decisions and allowed girls to go to school because still it was not late.

Psychologist Mustafa Safa told Pajhwok Afghan News problems may exceed until a way out is not introduced to resolve problems pertaining to girls’ education, women work and their rights.

“The simple way to address psychological issues was that existing curbs against women education and their legitimate rights should be lifted,” he said.

Local officials were not reached for comments regarding ban on girls’ education despite multiple efforts.

It is worth mentioning that ban on girls’ education and women work not only disappointed girls in Ghazni but in most areas of the country girls and women suffered from the same problem.
