KABUL (Pajhwok): UNICEF has helped 19 million people receive life-saving health and nutrition services in Afghanistan this year.
The UN agency tweeted: “This year, @UNICEFAfg helped 19 million people receive life-saving health & nutrition services. Supporting health workers, especially women. Keeping supply chains running and health centre and hospitals open.”
By retaining 27,000 health workers and keeping thousands of health facilities functional, UNICEF has prevented the collapse of Afghanistan’s health system in partnership with World Bank and ADB.
