KABUL (Pajhwok): The Afghanistan Food and Drug Authority (AFDA) on Sunday clarified that AUDY’s Ceftriaxone injection distilled water issue had been resolved and the medicine was usable.
AFDA on Saturday tweeted: “The laboratory result of Ceftriaxone injection with brand name “AUDY,” a product of Pakistani company Winthro Laboratories Ltd and batch numbers “CV170 and 169 CV” was negative and cannot be used.”
The authority said the laboratory test of Ceftriaxone injection shows its distilled water has insoluble particles and cannot be used.
Pajhwok published this report on Saturday, but Javed Hajir, a spokesman for AFDA, told Pajhwok today: “This medicine has been reformed and about 8,000 distilled water bottles of the medicine have been replaced.”
Hajir added: "The team that has been appointed confiscated 8100 bottles of distilled water, there is no problem with the powder and new distilled water was added to the medicine to find permission to enter the market.”
