MAIDAN SHAHR (Pajhwok): Work on 18 clean drinking water supply projects has been launched in four projects at four districts of central Maidan Wardak province.
In a statement, the provincial Rural Rehabilitation and Development department said eight water supply networks were being built and 10 others being repaired in Nerkh, Chak, Jalrez and Jaghato district and Maidan Shahr.
Once completed, the projects will supply clean drinking water to 3,111 families, two schools, a health center and 30 mosques.
The statement said dozens of people worked on the projects that would take four months to complete at a cost 43 million afghanis.
Also, Hamidullah, a resident, told Pajhwok that they had been lacking access to clean drinking water and as a result faced many difficulties.
He added: “We are very happy that a clean water network is being built in our area, because potable water is hard to find here.”
The projects are financially supported by UNICEF.
