FEROZKOH (Pajhwok): Local residents have started constructing a bridge by collecting three million afghanis in the capital of western Ghor province.
The bridge, which is 14 meters long and four meters wide, is being built in “Qats village” of Ferozkoh city. The bridge connects several villages with Ferozkoh.
Ghulam Yahya Yaqoubi, head of the development council of “Qats” village, said that the bridge was being built by local people at a cost of three million afghanis.
He said the bridge would be built in a ready-made and basic form by using cement and iron. Its construction would resolve the transportation problem of local residents.
Mohammad Khan Hakimi, a resident of Qats village, said they commuted with problems and traveling long distances to reach Ferozkoh, but the bridge would resolve the issue.
He added: “Local people are paying the construction cost which is estimated at three million afghanis. Previously the road was dirt. The bridge will connect the people with asphalted road..”
On the other hand, Mohammad Hanif, in charge of the project, said the bridge was 14 meters long and four meters wide and was being made of iron and concrete.
Mullah Ahmad Shah Dindoost, the governor of Ghor, said the bridge was being built by local people on self-help basis.
“We thank you for this action to solve people’s problems. Every Muslim can use it, and this itself is a ceaseless charity.”
