KABUL (Pajhwok): Acting Prime Minister Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund has returned to Kabul from southern Kandahar province after two months.
Akhund went to Kandahar on 16<sup>th</sup> of May after falling ill and his deputy for political affairs Maulvi Mohammad Kabir was appointed as new prime minister for a temporary period based on a degree from the Islamic Emirate’s supreme leader.
IEA deputy spokesman Bilal Karimi in a video clip shared on the Prime Minister office’s twitter page said Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund returned to Kabul today (Monday) following the guidance of the supreme leader after rest and treatment in Kandahar.
He added Mullah Akhund would resume his duties as prime minister upon reaching the Presidential Palace to better organize and manage the country’s affairs.
After the regime change in 2021, Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund was appointed as acting prime minister and Maulvi Abdul Kabir as his deputy for political affairs.
