GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): Flash floods triggered by heavy rains have caused huge financial losses to the people of southern Ghazni province.
Hafiz Omar, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the flash floods hit Ghazni City, Zankhan, Andar, Khwaja Omari, Waghaz and Qarabagh district on Saturday night.
He said, hundreds of houses were partially or completely damaged and crops on thousands of acres farmlands were also destroyed.
The exact number of the damaged houses was yet to be known, but survey teams of the natural disaster management authority rushed to the affected areas to collection information.
He added they had asked the emergency committee to the areas in order to deliver the preliminary aid to the affected people.
Torayali, a resident of Ahmadabad area, told Pajhwok flash floods hit their areas and organs concerned had evacuated them to safer places.
He asked the government and aid institutions to provide them with emergency assistance because they had suffered huge financial losses.
