JALALABAD (Pajhwok): The municipality has set into motion works of laying a concrete sub-road and embanking both sides of a canal along the road at a cost of 19 million afghanis in Jalalabad city, the capital of eastern Nangarhar province.

Officials says the road is being made of concrete and thousands people will benefit from it.

Jalalabad municipality spokesman Bakhtijan Murad told Pajhwok Afghan News the municipality had launched concrete work on a 1.2-kilometer road and embanking the canal in Khosh Gambad area of 9th police district.

He added the road project would consume 19m afs funded by municipality and would take six months to complete.”

He assured that the leadership of the Jalalabad municipality was trying to implement development projects using its own revenues in all districts of the province and provide necessary facilities to citizens in all areas.

On the other hand, residents of the area are also happy over the launch of the road and canal project.

IsmatullahHalimi, head of the youth council in Khosh Gambad area, told Pajhwok that the area residents were facing many problems during rains and farmers would be unable to deliver their crop harvests to the market on time.

According to him, construction of the road would resolve people’s problems  and demanded other projects should be also implemented in the area.

Khosh Gambad was recently upgraded to a police district in Jalalabad city and is deprived of many urban facilities.
