KABUL (Pajhwok): The Afghanistan National Standards and Norms Authority (ANSA) has generated over 2.2 billion afs of revenue last year while rejected 2,000 tankers carrying below the standard fuel out of total 10,000 tankers imported last year, an official said on Saturday.
ANSA Acting Head Mullah Faizullah Tamim told reporters at the Government Media and Information Centre (GMIC) 80 percent transparency to ensure the high quality of fuel had been achieved.
He said last year over 10,000 tankers fuels from Islam Kala, Tor Ghondai, Farah, Nimroz, Kandahar, Jalalabad, Sher Khan, Hairatan and Aqina ports had been imported, of these tankers 2,000 were sent back due to carrying low quality of fuel.
Asking businessmen to avoid the import of low quality fuel, he said ANSA collected around 2.2 billion afs of revenue.
Mawlavi Mohammad Asif Qanit, Technical Department head of ANSA, said until now 258 standards and six cods had been designed so far.
He said last year 1,231 gas and petroleum products samples had been tested in ANSA labortaries.
According to Qanit, ANSA mobile teams conducted the monitoring of over 380 petrol stations in Kabul, Kandahar, Nangarhar, Herat, Farah and Helmand provinces and 270 petrol stations had been closed.
He said 58 new standards are considered for the import of items during the ongoing year.
