PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): An official of the Pakistan Embassy in Sweden was involved in issuance of visas to Afghan nationals in violation of guidelines, the government has acknowledged.
The case has referred to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for probe and action, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar, told the Senate on Friday.
On complications surrounding visa issuance to Afghans, she said Pakistan’s foreign missions were flooded with visa applications.
The diplomatic mission remained committed to prioritising granting visas on health or humanitarian grounds, she said in a written statement to the upper house.
