SAR-I-PUL (Pajhwok): The residents of northern Sar-i-Pul province have donated nearly 25 acres of land for construction of schools and seminaries.
Maulvi Mohammad Rahmani, director of Sar-i-Pul education department, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the residents donated 22 acres of land last year and another 2.5 acres of land for schools this year
He added schools had been built on most of the donated lands and schools without buildings were given tents by UNICEF.
“The people of Sar-i-Pul have not only donated land for construction of schools and religious schools, but they also contributed cash for repairing work of schools, digging drinking water wells and other problems in schools,” he added.
Rahmani commended people’s donation and urged them for more contribution in repairing of school buildings.
Hekmatullah Haidari, a civil society activist, said people’s support in current situation was vital and fortunately they were contributing well in education sector.
Mehdi Abdullahi, one of the culturists, said the people of Sar-i-Pul had always taken lead in supporting education.
