MAHMOOD RAQI (Pajhwok): The Rural Rehabilitation and Development department of central Kapisa province has announced launching 98 livelihood and development projects in Hesa-i-Awal and Hesa-i-Doyem Kohistan districts of the province.
Mufti Syed Abrar Mohammadi, director of rural and rehabilitation and development of Kapisa, said the projects included cleaning of agricultural canals and water reservoirs and repairing and graveling of roads with financial support of United Nations Office for Projects Services (UNOPS).
The projects are being executed in coordination with the Rural Rehabilitation and Development Department and 93 people’s councils.
He said the projects will consume 140,790000 afs and take eight months to complete. He added 8,514 people will be provided with job opportunities.
As part of the projects, food packages worth 10,000 afghanis each will be distributed to 1,750 families of disabled, without guardian women, orphans and people who are not able to do physical work through 59 development councils.
Najm-ul-Din, a resident of Hesa-Awal Kohistan district, welcomed the launch of these projects and said the projects would develop their region and provide work opportunities for people.
