KABUL (Pajhwok): Rahmanullah Gurbaz’s sensational 151 balls 151 gone in vain as the men in blue were unable to finish things off in the final over against Pakistan and lost the nail-bitter 2nd ODI match by one wicket.
Batting first, Afghanistan put a decent total of 300 on the board and invited Pakistan to chase down the total. The match is part of three ODI series played in Sri Lanka.
Pakistan was off a stable start but Afghan bowlers started to make inroads in the Pakistani batting line after its start batter Babar Azam was dismissed on 53 when the total score was 170.
Pakistan’s Shadab Khan scored important runs for his side but it was Naseem Shah who repeated the Asia Cup rivalry and snatched victory from Afghanistan.
Shah helped his side seal the victory with a four runs short just one ball and one wicket to spare. Pakistan chased the total at the loss of nine wickets in 49.5 overs.
